Basic education to become a Skilled Farmer
The education to become a Skilled farmer farmer consists of 2 steps. The first step is Farmers Assistant,consists of a basic course that typically lasts 20 weeks, but depends on the individual student's abilities and experience. The basic course gives you a broad knowledge of both cattle and swine, plants and technology (machinery) and also allows you to become a zookeeper. The basic course is followed by an internship at a farm and then followed by a 16 week course (the first main course). Here you begin to specialize in either cattle, pigs or plants. If you take the exam here you become a Farmers Assistant.
Second step, Skilled farmer, consists of an internship at a farm and a 20 week course at the college (the second main course) when you finish your specialization in cattle, pigs or plants.
Agricultural Management Training - the future leaders
When you are a Skilled farmer, you can choose to study even more if you want to increase your options or want to become better equipped for the challenges that exist in agriculture.The program consists of the production manager, farm business manager and Agricultural Economist.
It is a leadership training where you get into depth with agricultural tradeissues, combined with subjects such as strategy, economics, management and communication.
