The education to be a farmer consists of two steps. Education step 1, Farmer’s Assistant, is a basic course that typically lasts for 20 weeks or longer depending on the individual student’s knowledge and experience. The basic course provides knowledge about dairy farming, pig production, plant production and technical skills. After 15 month of practical work on a farm the student joins a course lasting 16 weeks. Here the student specializes in either dairy, pig or plant production.
The education step 2, Skilled Farmer, consists of a period of practical work on a farm, and the third course at college. This course (2. Main course) is lasting 20 weeks, finalizing the education within the chosen area of specialization.
